Tryon Horse Heritage Week

Tryon Horse Heritage Week

Celebrate the Tryon Riding and Hunt Club’s return to Harmon Field during Tryon Horse Heritage Week April 13-21.

The Tryon Downtown Development Association and Tryon Riding & Hunt Club are partnering to emphasize the importance and bring back some of the fun of Tryon’s storied equestrian history.

In their heyday, Tryon Horse Shows were a huge event town wide. Businesses and school shut down so the entire community could come out and participate. Morris the horse was always proudly paraded through the streets. In our efforts to bring this tradition back, we are building a “parade size” Morris the Horse that will stand at approximately 18 hands high (6-7 ft).

Local artisans Barney Eiserloh and Fred Herres are building a portable Morris that will parade through downtown on April 18, 2019 and end at Harmon Field for the Carter Brown BBQ sponsored by Tryon Riding & Hunt Club. This will be a FREE event for the community, everyone is welcome to attend as it will kick off TR&HC’s 3 day “Traditionally Tryon Horse Show” at Harmon Field.
